We've redesigned the Ovi Share website from top to bottom to make your media sharing experience better. The new design brings to life photos and videos from you and your friends and makes it easier to find the features you need most.
The Fishbowl
Media glides by straight from your activity feed on the home page. Embed this into your own web site to share your experience.
What's New?
We’ve improved many features based on your feedback. The changes include:
- Better Sharing - You can now share photos and videos individually without having to create an album first. Plus, comments on an item show to all viewers.
- Higher Quality Images - A new photo transcoding platform produces higher quality images. The larger size on the media page shows more detail.
Improved Media Page - The media page has more room for your photos and videos--see with whom they are shared, the comments and the capture time and place.
- Album Page - Channels have been renamed to Albums and the most recently used albums display on the home page for quick access. Plus, now you can change the number of thumbnails shown on one page.
- Easier Experience - Tasks such as sharing, commenting and organizing are now easier to find and use with simpler menus and in-place actions.
Quality Upgrade for Existing Photos
Because of the large number of photos stored in Ovi, it will take a few days for us to upgrade all media to the new quality and sizes. In this time you will see some issues with the rotation, location data, and others. This will be fixed automatically, and all your photos will look better.
Other Features
As part of this transformation, we've disabled some features. We realize that some of your favorite features are missing, but don't worry, we are working to improve them. Also, Ovi Share now only allows uploading image and video file types. With support for over 100 file types we work with the most popular media formats used for capturing and sharing your life. To upload other file types you can now use the Ovi Files service.
Enjoy the new site and if you have any feedback just use our Contact Us page.

UPDATE: We are aware of the problem with existing embedded slideshows. We are working on a fix to release right away and will let you know as soon as it is released. Existing embedded media will automatically be fixed so you don't have to make any changes on your sites.

What is up with being stuck with ONE embed size now ? And the small size at that. I used to use the Large embed size previously, and I hate being stuck with this new size.
Also, although you tried to improve the "share" experience I think you've made it a bit worse in one area. Now I have to scroll to the bottom, click "Embed", wait for the popup, select the code from there before I can use it. Previously this code was right there uptop.
I like the changed though, but it feels like its 2 steps forward, one step back atm.

Hi CJ,
Thanks for the feedback. You've hit upon the hard choice we had to make in this redesign -- between exposing all features high up for power users vs. simplifying the site for general users. This is why a number of advanced features like the embed and sizing are less prominent. This feedback is very helpful though because we will continue to evaluate this balance.
Regarding the sizes, we do have a trick you can use. The other sizes are available behind the scenes but are hidden in the interface for simplicity. We are working on ways to expose them in an easy way for novice users. For an advanced user such as yourself, you can access the other sizes we produce by replacing the size code in the URL with one of these:
st - small thumbnail
lt - large thumbnail
s - small
m - medium
l - large
For example, The size code in this url: "http://media.share.ovi.com/m1/s/0718/6120860aeeaf40d0864234e6d27f5b7a.jpg"
is the "s" just after the "m1/". Of course you'll have to update the image size also in the code on the embed dialog.
I'm glad you like the overall change. This new foundation will allow us to make more improvements and add new features while maintaining an ease of use that was not possible with the previous design.
Regards,
The Ovi Share Team

Thanks for the quick reply about the trick guys. But as you might understand, when you have a blog and do the odd post like reviews with 50+ Images in one post (like a phone review), editing the image size manually is reaaally tedious.
I'm hoping you guys find a way to fix this soon though. Maybe a toggle switch (somewhere) between advanced options and simple options so people who use Ovi Share like I do, can still have access to the features.
In any case, great work with the site. Thanks for the replies !

Looking good! In next release, it would be great to get some "mass" update tool, it seems to be a bit tricky now to move tens of pics to an album if you've uploaded them already, or delete many photos... or did I miss something?

Dear Share Ovi Designer:
I suggest you to add the code </embed> at the end of the album embed code,
because some blog (like blogger) do not support the unclosed tag, but not all users who uses share ovi knows to add </embed> at the end of the code.
Best regards.
